Barndoor 1954 Bundespost / Funkmessdienst

Sometimes there is the unique opportunity to own a very rare barndoor….
Well her it is!

Years ago founded in an old barn by Christian Grundmann.
Survived in dust, but in a very solid and good condition... Owned in a private collection after that by Richard Hausmann and finally we got the change a few years ago to buy it and build it up like it is now.
A very rare barnfind. Buses are rarely found in a condition like this, but what a surprise it was a original Bundes Postal bus from 1954.

After investigation this was not a 'standard' Bundespost barndoor but one who was used by the ‘Funkmessdienst’ from Bundespost.
The Funkmessdienst was the department that was responsible for the first corresponding connections etc.

Standard from factory in 1954 he has the follow unique options:

- Samba Dashboard
- M053 opening rear hatch
- Behr Scoop on the roof

Most of original details are there:

- Renovated with a lot of NOS parts.
- Running nicely with a 54 correct engine.
- Correct refreshed gearbox
- Original frontbeam
- Original floors, panels
- New seat covers

Brakes, lights etc. It’s all working and this Barndoor is ready to hit the road or be part of your exclusive collection.

Actually all work is done. But yeah there is some more to collect; work-table, bulkhead between driver and worker compartment (it was not with the bus, but it is on the pictures), maybe more Funkmess details.
But, at the moment he is mostly completed and beautifull as an original Postal Bus.
